Severe weather has forced the University Interscholastic League to make another adjustment to the athletic calendar for the 2020-21 school year.

Texas has dealt with interruptions created by the severe weather and changed the state championships for girls both swimming and diving and girls basketball.

They announced the following changes:

  • Girls State Championship games will be played March 10th-11th at the Alamodome;
  • Playoff round certification deadlines have been adjusted to allow all playoff games to be played;
  • Schools who have experienced delays in playoff rounds may be required to complete three rounds in a one-week period.

The girls state championship in basketball was originally scheduled for Friday, March 5 for 1A, 3A and 5A while Saturday, March 6 was for 2A, 4A and 6A.

Power outages and water shortages in San Antonio have created uncertainty for the UIL Girls State Swimming and Diving Championships and have been rescheduled to Monday and Tuesday, March 1-2.

Tickets purchased for the girls meet will be valid for the new dates.

The girls state swimming and diving meet was originally scheduled for Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20.

The finals were moved past the weekend earlier this week to Monday, Feb. 22 and Tuesday, Feb. 23.

The format will remain the same, athletes will for 6A will compete on day one with preliminaries started at 10 a.m. while diving starts at 2 p.m. and finals will be at 5 p.m.

The 5A state finals will be the following day in the same format.

The UIL Boys State Swimming and Diving Championships continue to be scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Feb. 26th-27th.
