Travis quarterback Eric Rodriguez has picked up a couple of honors after his big performance last Friday night against Spring.
Rodriguez was named one of the eight MaxPreps/USA Football Players of the Week, as well as being named a MVP on the Inside High School Sports Show on Channel 11.
Rodriguez was 30-for-36 for 453 yards and six touchdowns for the Tigers in a 53-49 win. Rodriguez, who also ran for 113 yards and a touchdown, led Travis to an 18-point comeback in the fourth quarter for the win.
The MaxPreps/USA Football Players of the Week honors eight top high school football performers each week throughout the U.S. Selected by USA Football, players are chosen based upon statistics that are submitted to MaxPreps. Each winner receives a certificate and a letterman patch to showcase the honor. Rodriguez won honors from the southwest region.
In three games this season, Rodriguez has thrown for 1,020 yards and 11 touchdowns, along with 232 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Travis, which is 3-0 on the season, has the weekend off, but will begin District 20-6A play on Thursday against Elkins at Mercer Stadium in Sugar Land.
