Former Foster football player Bronson Teles’ first passion has always been rugby.
Teles flourished on the rugby field with the University of Arizona.
Now Teles hopes to take the next step in his rugby career by being selected in the Major League Rugby draft this weekend.
“I see as a pathway to playing professionally,” Teles said in his draft profile. “I’m very excited about what is going on in the MLR.”
Teles declared for the draft in May and he was one of seven players profiled by the MLR as draft prospects.
In his final season with Arizona, Teles was selected PAC Conference co-player of the year.
The Flanker shared the honors with Sam Golla of the University of California - Berkeley.
Teles finished all-conference first team while leading the team at nearly 19 rucks/game and finishing second in tackle rate (95%).
The former Falcon is a two-year captain for the Wildcats while also appearing in the USA U20s and Collegiate All Americans.
Teles will have a chance to be close to home the expansion Dallas team will be drafting No. 1 overall and Austin has the No. 4.
Houston was at No. 3 but traded both of their picks for Utah’s Robbie Povey in May.
