A handful of local football teams have begun spring practices as the preparations for the 2019 season are underway.

Only 6A and 5A teams can have spring practices, according to UIL rules.

Foster has begun its spring practice schedule on Monday and will continue until Thursday, May 23, wrapping up with its spring game at Briscoe Junior High School from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The Falcons will have after-school practice from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

Lamar Consolidated also started up on Monday and will have practice all this week. The Mustangs will end spring practice on May 23, but will not have a spring game due to the renovation of the track at Traylor Stadium.

Travis began spring practice last week and had its first scrimmage on Friday. The Tigers will have workouts this week and the next two weeks, except for May 6 and 7 for STARR testing. After-school practice is from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m.

The Red and White Game is scheduled for Thursday, May 16, with the freshman/junior varsity at 5 p.m. and the varsity/JV at 6:30 p.m.

George Ranch started its spring program on Monday and will use an alternate practice location at Dickinson Elementary School on Thursday as its main field is under renovation. There will also be a practice at Campbell Elementary School on Tuesday, May 14. George Ranch’s after-school practice will be from 3:45 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The Longhorns will wrap up practice with its Maroon-Black Game on Thursday, May 23 at Reading Junior High School, with JV playing at 4 p.m. and varsity at 6 p.m.

Terry has decided to forgo spring practice and will have an earlier start to its preseason camp in August.
