The Sugar Land Skeeters look to wrap up the regular season this weekend after experiencing a couple of rainouts due to Tropical Storm Imelda .
The Skeeters open a three-game series against Southern Maryland on Friday at 7 p.m. at Constellation Field.
Saturday’s game will be at 6 p.m. and Sunday’s game at 2 p.m.
Sugar Land did get one game in with Somerset on Wednesday, an 8-6 loss to the Patriots in a shortened seven-inning game. Tuesday’s and Thursday’s games were rained out.
Infielder Juan Silverio leads the team with a .289 batting average this season, while outfielder/designated hitter Denis Phipps leads the team with 21 home runs and 81 RBIs.
Pitchers Dallas Beeler and Troy Scribner have ERAs of 3.86 and 3.87, respectively. Scribner leads the team with 120 strikeouts.
The Skeeters will then begin their postseason run with the Freedom Division Championship Series by hosting the York Revolution. Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-five series will take place Tuesday and Wednesday at Constellation Field, with first pitch at 6:30 p.m. for both games.
The winner heads to the Atlantic League Championship Series.
Sugar Land is four games behind York in the Freedom Division second-half standings with a record of 34-31.
The Skeeters won the first-half division title in July with a record of 35-35, a game ahead of York.
