Battle in the paint

East Bernard junior Samantha Rabius looks for space to put up a shot attempt against Brazos.

The East Bernard Brahmarettes (13-6) basketball season ends in the second round to the Pollok Central Lady Bulldogs 43-24 at College Station High School on Saturday.

The Brahmarettes started strong in tightly defended first quarter, East Bernard led 6-2. But it was all Lady Bulldogs in the second quarter.

Central outscored East Bernard 23-1 in the eight minutes before half time.

For only the third time this decade the Brahmarettes made it to the second round of the playoffs. The Brahmarettes finished district play as the second seed.

Pollok Central (25-4) will play against Woodville (24-4) in the Region III-3A quarterfinals on Wednesday at Woden High School.
