The challenges don’t get any easier in round two for area playoff teams.

The majority of local teams survived the bi-district round and now the teams head to bigger stages.

George Ranch (5-6) will face Humble (10-2), the No. 1 seed for 6A Division II from District 22-6A.

The Wildcats finished third in the district standings behind Atascocita and Dobie before the division split.

Humble beat Houston C.E. King 24-14 in the opening round of the playoffs.

The Longhorns and Humble will battle on Saturday at the University of Houston’s TDECU Stadium.

Foster (7-4) will face Georgetown (8-3) on Saturday at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan.

The Eagles finished third in District 11-5A behind Cedar Park and Hutto. Georgetown beat Austin LBJ 6-3 in the bi-district round.

Construction on the new Traylor Stadium press box will have to wait one more week with Lamar Consolidated hosting another playoff game at its home field.

The Mustangs (9-2) will host Manvel (11-0) on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Mavericks were the District 11-5A champions and defeated Nederland 49-14 in the opening round of the playoffs.

Needville (9-2) won a barn-burner over Canyon Lake, 40-33, to create a matchup against Boerne (7-3) in the area around.

The Greyhounds finished third in District 15-4A DI behind Beeville Jones and Gonzales. Boerne beat Hidalgo 34-7 in the bi-district round.

The area round contest will take place Friday at Wildcat Stadium in Elgin.

East Bernard (11-0) made short work of Sonora and now faces Natalia (8-3) in round two on Friday in Converse at D.W. Rutledge Stadium.

The Mustangs finished second in District 15-3A DII behind Poth and tied with Stockdale at 3-2.

Natalia knocked out Hebbronville, 49-14, in the bi-district round.
