Falcons to host another 7-on-7 tournament

Foster quarterback Ryan Stubblefield has already led the Falcons to a 7-on-7 football state tournament berth earlier this month, but the Falcons will play in Friday’s tournament.

Three area teams, Foster, Terry and George Ranch, will be participating in two 7-on-7 football state qualifying tournaments on Friday.

Foster and Terry will be participating in the Cinco Ranch state qualifying tournament, which is being hosted by Foster and will take place on the fields behind Briscoe Junior High School.

Terry will be in Pool C, facing The Woodlands, Clements and Katy Tompkins in pool play. Foster will be in Pool D, playing against Dickinson, Austin and Seven Lakes in pool play.

Since the Falcons have already clinched a spot in the state tournament, they cannot advance from pool play.

Pool A will consist of Houston Lamar, Katy Paetow, Houston Stratford and Nederland. Pool B has Cinco Ranch, Katy, Westside and Port Neches-Groves. Katy cannot advance from pool play since the Tigers have clinched a spot in the state tournament.

Pool play begins at 3:30 p.m., with the pool winners facing each other at 7 p.m. The winner of Pool A will face the winner of Pool B, while the winners of pools C and D will meet.

The winners of those qualifying games will clinch a spot at the state tournament on June 28 at Veterans Park in College Station.

Meanwhile, George Ranch will be at Veterans Park for the A&M Consolidated state qualifying tournament. The Longhorns will be in Pool B and will face Round Rock Cedar Ridge, Georgetown East View and Bryan Rudder in pool play, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Pool A will have A&M Consolidated, Temple, Willis and Killeen Harker Heights. Pool C has Waco Midway, College Station, Belton and Brenham, while Pool D consists of Killeen Shoemaker, San Benito, Clear Brook and Leander Vandegrift.

If George Ranch wins its pool, it will face the Pool A winner at 7 p.m., the same time as the winners of pools C and D.
