The bi-district playoff round has been a source of motivation for Needville entering the 2020 season.
Head coach Amy Schultz’s squad was upset by La Grange last season in the bi-district round after the Lady Jays finished second in District 25-4A.
The Lady Jays return to the playoffs as the District 25-4A champion and the No. 1 ranked team in 4A as rated by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.
One significant change in the bi-district round is the Lady Jays’ bi-district pair is now longer with central Texas. It is now the coastal bend area.
The Lady Jays will travel to Cuero on Thursday to face Corpus Christi West Oso. The Lady Bears returns to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
Needville is seeking to reach the area round for the eighth time in the past ninth seasons.
The Brahmarettes begin their 2020 playoff run with New Waverly. The Lady Bulldogs have reached the playoffs for the fifth-straight season. New Waverly has reached the area round, including a match against East Bernard in 2016.
The East Bernard-New Waverly game will take place on Thursday at Navasota High School.
The Cougarettes return to the 3A playoffs with a first-round game against Tarkington.
The Lady Longhorns are playing in their 10th straight postseason. Tarkington has made multiple deep runs over that period, but the Lady Longhorns have taken a downturn in recent years — exiting in the bi-district round last year.
Brazos-Tarkington will be played at Tomball Memorial High School Thursday.
