Both Needville and Fulshear will be well represented at the regional meet after its performance at the District 25/26-4A area track and field meet at Hopper Field in Brazosport last week.

Needville’s Brandon Pollard qualified in three events, including second-place finishes in the 1,600-meter run with a time of four minutes and 45.32 seconds, and the 3,200-meter run at 10 minutes and 18.75 seconds. He also qualified for the 800-meter dash. Fulshear’s Ashton Oxford also qualified for the 1,600 and the 3,200 races.

Fulshear sprinter Jordan Chopane got first place in the 200 dash (22.41), and Needville’s Xavier Lott won the shot put with a throw of 47 feet and 1.5 inches.

Both the Blue Jays and Chargers had their 800-meter relay teams qualify, as Needville was third in the race (1:31.64) and Fulshear was a close fourth (1:31.77). Needville also got a second-place finish in the 1,600 relay (3:29.26).

On the girl’s side, Fulsher’s Briana Roberson won the 1,600 race (5:40.81) and the 3,200 racer (12:08.58). Scotlyn Lowe of Needville was second in both the 1,600 (5:43.90) and the 3,200 (12:28.17).

Lowe also won the 800 with a time of 2:30.74. Sau Taylor of Fulsher was second (2:28.46) and also qualified in the 400 dash.

Needville with have two relay teams at regionals, as the 800 and 1,600 relay teams qualified. The 1,600 team finished third with a time of 4:12.09.

Anna Gadway of Needville got second place in the high jump, leaping four feet and 10 inches. She also qualified for the long jump and triple jump.

Athena Parkin also led the Lady Jays with a first-place finish in the pole vault (11-00) and Meriabell Rouane was second in the discus (95-11).

Both teams will head to Javelina Stadium at Texas A&M-Kingsville for the Region IV-4A meet on Friday and Saturday.
