It wasn’t the best season for the Lamar Consolidated boy’s basketball team, as the Mustangs struggled to keep up against a deep field in District 24-5A.
Lamar won only seven games all season and only had one district win, a 60-51 win over Willowridge on Dec. 12. It would be the Mustangs’ last win of the season, going 1-15 in district play.
But the lone bright spot for Lamar’s season has to be the play of senior forward Roman Punch, who was a first-team all-district selection.
Punch led the Mustangs with 14.6 points per game and 6.2 rebounds per game. He was a second-team all-district selection last season as a junior.
This is the second all-district selection for Punch this year after being named first-team all-district for football after anchoring the Mustangs’ defensive line. He is also a three-time all-district selection for football.
Punch will play football at Texas A&M-Commerce in the fall.
