Lamar National 10u wins area title

The Little League District 18 10-and-under tournament is set with Lamar National and Needville advancing to the double-elimination tournament.

The district tournament will be played at Seabourne Creek Regional Sports Complex in Rosenberg.

Lamar National won two games over Brazoswood on Thursday and Friday to win the Area 4 title, including Friday’s 16-6 win at George Park.

National jumped out with a five-run first inning, and scored two runs in each of the next three innings.

National then added five more runs in the sixth inning to get the run-rule win.

Cy Bromberg led the team by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Drake McGuire was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Roy Greene, Dominic Maina and Mason Godby each had two hits in the game.

Hunter Forshee, Luke Tanner and Godby combined to hold Brazoswood to 10 hits and six walks in six innings of work, striking out five.

Tanner picked up the win by going four innings, allowing six hits and four runs while striking out five.

Lamar National will now face Wharton in the district tournament on Thursday at 8 p.m. Wharton won the Area 1 tournament with a 10-4 win over Lamar American on Thursday.

Needville advanced to the district tournament after winning the Area 2 championship on Thursday with a 9-3 win over El Campo.

Needville will face Alvin in the district tournament on Thursday at 6 p.m. Alvin advanced with an 8-7 win over Angleton on Friday to win the Area 3 title.

The winners of Thursday’s games will play a winner’s-bracket game on Friday at 8 p.m., while the losers will meet in an elimination game on Friday at 6 p.m.
