Two George Ranch girl’s basketball players were named to the elite team in the Texas High School Coaches Association’s Academic All-Star teams.

Student-athletes and student trainers and managers with good standing with the team, with good moral character and a grade point average of 92 or above were eligible for being nominated.

Senior forward Ryan Dennis and senior guard Lauren Krouch were awarded elite status, with senior forward Mi’lan Francis Miller as a second-team pick.

East Bernard senior Cheslee Karasek was tabbed a first-team selection, with senior Erin Beird as an honorable mention pick.

Needville senior Baley Stavinoha was a first-team selection, with seniors Bella Ruggeroli and Camianne Buell named second-team picks. Senior Desteny Guillen and manager Larissa Knox were named honorable mention.

On the boy’s side, Needville senior Tim Garza was named first-team, with senior Kenny Hrncir named a second-team pick.

East Bernard manager Morgan Whitley was a second-team selection, while manager Morgan Whitley and guard Mason Vasut was honorable mention picks.

Brazos’ Luke Demny and Dalton Herrera were also named honorable mention.

Several Longhorn wrestlers named academic all-state

Seven wrestlers from George Ranch also were named academic all-state from the THSCA, including second-team selections Artacho Cuaresma and Olivia Kirby.

Jason Brenner, Rebecca Paul, Jelony Richardson, Gabriel Suchanek and Raul Zepeda were all honorable mention picks.

Also selected honorable mention were Terry wrestlers Rigoberto Argueta, Sidney Hausler and Dylan Ruiz, along with Fulsher’s Alex Torres.
