Despite going 7-1 in the LCISD Battle of the Brazos tournament, Fulshear dropped to No. 4 in the latest Texas Girls Coaches Association volleyball poll for Class 4A.

The Chargers were ranked No. 1 in last week’s poll, but dropped behind new No. 1 Farmersville, Graham and LaVernia.

Fulshear (22-2) picked up wins over Alief Hastings, Kempner, Cypress Ridge, Bush, Dulles, East Bernard and Elkins in the Battle of the Brazos tournament, but suffered a loss to Bellville on Saturday.

The Chargers finished fifth in the tournament’s gold bracket, while Bellville, ranked sixth in 4A, won the tournament championship.

Needville (18-7) is ranked No. 11 in the poll after a third-place finish in the LCISD tournament, getting wins over Cypress Springs, Travis, Alief Taylor, Terry, Foster, East Bernard and Mayde Creek. The Lady Jays lone loss came in the semifinals to Bellville.

No other LCISD team was ranked, but District 24-5A foe Manvel was ranked No. 13 in the 5A poll and District 23-6A rival Pearland Dawson is ranked third in the 6A poll.

The only other Fort Bend County team ranked is Ridge Point, which is No. 11 in the 6A poll.
