Foster High School football team is ranked No. 7 in their preseason poll for Class 5A, Division I by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine.

The Foster High School football team was been in the thick of the race for the Class 5A, Division I crown since head coach Shaun McDowell took over seven years ago.

The Falcons have won 66 games during that stretch.

The 2020 season appears that it will be another chapter with the Falcons again loaded for action.

The media agrees with Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine, ranking the Falcons No. 7 in their preseason poll for 5A Division I.

Denton Ryan enters the year as the No. 1 team in Class 5A-DI, followed by Frisco Lone Star, Longview, Highland Park, Lancaster and Manvel.

Cedar Park, Red Oak and Amarillo Tascosa complete the top 10 list.

The Mavericks of Manvel join the Falcons in District 10-5A DI this season.

Manvel is ranked at No. 6 after moving up from Division II. The Mavericks were 13-1 last season with losing a rematch with Fort Bend Marshall in the regional championship.

The Mavericks have plenty of holes to fill with only five starters returning on offense and defense. Overall, Manvel has 31 returning lettermen.

Foster has fewer returning lettermen at 24 but far more starters returning with 11 overall (six on offense and five on defense).

The Falcons also have plenty of headliners remaining with three players already committed to play Division I college football.

The group includes top wide receiver in Texas for the Class of 2020, University of Oklahoma commit Cody Jackson.

Offensive tackle Reuben “Deuce” Fatheree recently committed to Texas A&M University.

Defensive lineman Tyler Onyedim also announced his intention to go to Iowa State University this offseason.

Additionally, Foster and Manvel will be joined by Angleton, Hightower, Kempner, Houston Milby, Paetow, Terry and Houston Wisdom in District 10-5A DI.

The reigning Class 5A, Division I state championship Shadow Creek is moving out of 10-5A DI to play in 6A for 2020 season.

Longview is the only team ahead of Foster that is dropping down from Class 6A.

Marshall ranked fourth in Class 5A DII

Another Fort Bend County team was ranked in the top 10 for Class 5A Division II.

Fort Bend Marshall starts the 2020 season ranked No. 4 in the 5A-DII poll released by Dave Campbell.

The Buffaloes are behind Ennis, Aledo and Lubbock-Cooper.

A&M Consolidated, Wichita Falls Rider, Mansfield Timberview, Frisco, Barbers Hill and Crosby round out the top 10 for the 5A-DII list.

Marshall is coming off back-to-back trips to the state championship game under head coach James Williams.

Marshall will play with Willowridge, Houston Sterling, Houston Northside, Galena Park, Houston Waltrip, Houston Austin, Houston Madison and Houston Sharpstown in 11-5A DII.

A&M Consolidated plays with Lamar Consolidated, Fulshear, Huntsville, Bryan Rudder, Montgomery and Lake Creek in 10-5A DII.
