The Fort Bend Baseball League is entering its final weeks of play for the 2020 season.
Foster and Ridge Point lead their respective conferences of the Lake Olympia Division. Foster leads the National League, tied with Bellaire Red at 6-1. Ridge Point Purple is tied to the win column with Austin at five wins.
But the Panthers have one less loss at 5-1 compared to Austin’s 5-2.
The Sweetwater Division, an 18-and-under league, is led by Austin at 8-0. The Oyster Creek Division, the junior varsity league, is also led by Austin at 5-2.
Lake Olympia Division results
Foster 3, Bellaire Red 1
At the end of last month, Foster picked up a 3-1 win over Bellaire Red. Ridge Aventuardo went 2-for-3 with a run scored in the lead-off spot. Christian Smink drove in two runs while Duriell Quinn stole two bases.
Chase Batten and Cooper Schwank combined to allow only one unearned run. Schwank led the team with six strikeouts compared to five from Batten.
Foster 8, Travis 3
The Falcons defeated Travis late last month by an 8-3 mark. Brock Callahan went 2-for-2 with a run scored, a run batted in and a double in the lead-off spot. Chase Batten also added a double, a run scored and an RBI. Ridge Aventurado drove in two runs.
Duriell Quinn and Callahan combined to allow two earned runs on no hits over four innings while striking out six.
Foster 17, Kempner 4
The Falcons offense was on fire against Kempner at the end of June in a 17-4 victory. Christian Smink, Cooper Schwank and Steven Godwin each had three hits. Quinn had two triples and Godwin added two doubles, while both drove in three runs each.
Godwin appeared in one inning out of the bullpen, striking out all three batters he faced. Foster struck out nine batters over five innings.
Bellaire 12, Foster 1
Foster lost to Bellaire Red 12-1 early in July. Chase Batten, Jared Burdette and Jackson McCarthy had the Falcons’ only hits. Christian Smink drove in the one run.
Steven Godwin pitched two scoreless innings in relief while he struck out three batters.
Foster 6, George Ranch Maroon 5
The Falcons freshman team beat George Ranch Maroon this past Wednesday, 6-5.
Foster needed only four hits to score six runs including a double from Cooper Schwank. Schwank and Ridge Aventurado each had two RBIs.
Chase Batten allowed three earned runs on four hits over three innings. He struck out eight and walked three walks on 73 pitches.
Foster 27, Travis 4
Friday’s battle of Richmond baseball powers saw Foster come out on top 27-4 over Travis.
The Falcons were able to gather 19 hits and 10 walks through four innings. Duriell Quinn had four hits while driving in five runs and he scored three times. Quinn, Ridge Aventurado, Jared Burdette and Brock Callahan each had two hits.
Chase Batten added a home run.
Steven Godwin struck out three over his one inning of relief pitching.
George Ranch 8, Ridge Point Purple 7
The Longhorns gave Ridge Point’s only loss during Lake Olympia play in mid-June. George Ranch needed only three hits and six walks to score eight times.
Luke Pickett’s lone hit was a double. He also drove in two runs. Kyle Giries and Joe Hernandez each had two walks.
Chase Adams allowed two earned runs on two hits over two innings while striking out two and walking three.
George Ranch Black 25, Missouri City Red 2
The George Ranch offense exploded for a win earlier this season against Missouri City. Briggs Surratt, Chase Adams and Carson Mixon each had three hits.
Briggs Surratt scored four times while Cody Ford, Joe Hernandez and Johnny Padilla each drove in three runs. Padilla hit a home run and Ford had two doubles.
Logan Watson and Ford combined for five strikeouts on the mound.
George Ranch Black 10, Elkins 2
The Longhorns collected a win against Elkins junior varsity team last month, 10-2.
Johnny Padilla and Cody Ford each had two hits. Ford and Briggs Surratt combined for seven RBIs.
Ford (home run), Padilla (double) and Luke Pickett (double) each had an extra-base hit. Joe Hernandez had three stolen bases.
Ethan Bozeman and Cody Ford combined for four innings on the mound while the pair totaled five strikeouts.
Ridge Point 12, George Ranch Black 2
The Longhorns lost to Ridge Point to end league play in June. George Ranch had only two hits from Johnny Padilla and Chase Adams. The pair each added an RBI.
George Ranch Black 14, Elkins JV 0
The Longhorns blanked the Elkins JV team this past Wednesday for a 14-0 victory.
George Ranch pitchers Cody Ford and Chase Adams didn’t allow a hit over three innings.
Briggs Surratt and Cody Ford both collected two hits including a double each.
Ford and Ethan Bozeman each drove in two runs.
George Ranch collected 14 walks including Ford, Bozeman, Logan Watson, Kyle Giries, Carson Mixon and Carson Poss earning two each.
The Fort Bend Baseball League will be holding a fall league for the 2020 season. The league will be starting in late August for the 18-and-under and 16-and-under divisions.
