The Foster boy’s track team will send a large contingent to the regional meet after some strong performances at the District 23/24-5A Area Track and Field Championships on Thursday at Challenger Columbia Stadium in Webster.

Collin Williams qualified for regionals by winning the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.72 seconds and won the 800-meter dash with a time of a minute and 56.06 seconds. Christopher Cobbin finished second in the 400, running a 49.76.

Also, the Falcons’ 4x400-meter relay team won its race with a time of 3:16.78.

Foster runner Caden Cunningham also had a good day, winning the 1,600 race at 4:37.18 and finishing second in the 3,200 run (10:28.43).

Johnbosco Muiruri was close behind Cunningham, finishing second in the 1,600 (4:43.42) and fourth in the 3,200 (10:41.62).

Also for the Falcons, Hayden Henderson won the pole vault with a vault of 14 feet and six inches. Amryn Williams was second in the triple jump, leaping for 44 feet and 4.5 inches.

Lamar Consolidated’s Daniel Anomneze also made it to regionals after his third-place finish in the 110 hurdles (14.94). Cameron Dotson was second in the high jump (6-01.00).

A pair of Terry athletes also qualified for regionals as Travis Bonner won the high jump (6-01.00) and Kolby Sumlin was third in the discus throw (125-05.00).

On the girl’s side, Foster’s Macey Ellis won the 1,600 (5:51.71) and the 3,200 12:41.659). Madelyn Ellis was second in the 1,600 (6:02.02).

Ife Chris-Rotimi was second in the 800 dash (2:18.61), followed by teammate Kamryn Williams in third place (2:28.61). Williams was also third in the triple jump (33-04.75). The 4x400-meter relay team got a third-place finish with a time of 3:59.07.

Lamar Consolidated 4x100-meter qualified for regionals with a time of 1:42.87.

Madeline Maves won the pole vault with a 10-foot, six-inch vault for the Lady Falcons.

Three Lamar athletes also qualified as Tia Murray was third in the 400 dash (57.66), Lauren Spencer was third in the shot put (33-06) and Faith Ojualape was fourth in the discus (102-02).

The athletes will head back to Webster this Friday and Saturday for the Region III-5A meet.
