At the ready

East Bernard Brahmas will enter the Region IV-3A DII playoffs ranked No. 4 enter the playoffs.

There was little movement for most Fort Bend County teams in the latest high school football rankings from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and the Associated Press.

Foster stayed at No. 5 in the 5A Division I rankings after the Falcons got a 28-10 win over Katy Paetow on Saturday. Foster will next face No. 6 Manvel for the District 10-5A DI championship on Friday night at Alvin Memorial Stadium.

The top four also stayed the same with No. 1 Denton Ryan, followed by Dallas Highland Park, Lancaster and Cedar Park.

Fort Bend Marshall also stayed pat in the 5A Division II rankings, staying third after the Buffaloes routed Houston Austin 63-6. Marshall continues to be ranked behind top-ranked Ennis and No. 2 Aledo. The Buffs face Willowridge on Thursday at Hall Stadium in Missouri City.

East Bernard stayed at No. 4 in 3A Division II after being idle last weekend. The Brahmas will begin their playoff run when they face Lexington on Friday at Columbus.

Needville had a chance to get into the top-10 of the 4A Division I rankings, but fell to El Campo 40-28 on Friday. The Ricebirds moved up a spot to No. 5, while the Blue Jays will open the playoffs against Houston Furr on Friday in Stafford.

The lone big change among teams in the county is Katy Tompkins, which moved from No. 14 in the 6A rankings to No. 7. This comes after the Falcons beat Katy 24-19 on Thursday to give Katy its first district loss in 75 games. The loss dropped the Tigers to No. 10.

Other Houston-area teams ranked in 6A include North Shore (No. 1), Cy-Fair (No. 6), Bridgeland (No. 9), Shadow Creek (No. 13), Atascocita (No. 14), Spring (No. 18), Pearland Dawson (No. 19) and Spring Westfield (No. 20).
