The three Fort Bend County boys’ basketball teams stayed in their respective top-five positions, but the two girls’ teams moved up in this week’s Texas Association of Basketball Coaches polls.
The Foster girls’ hoops team made the biggest movement, jumping from No. 18 to No. 15 this week. The Lady Falcons are 10-2 and 5-0 in District 24-5A after Friday’s 87-19 win over Hightower. Monday’s game against Willowridge was cancelled and will be rescheduled later.
Meanwhile, Dulles moved from No. 18 to No. 15 in the 6A rankings as the Lady Vikings dominated Clements 84-38 on Friday to move to 13-0 overall and 4-0 in District 20-6A play. Dulles will be on break until Jan. 2, when it will face Ridge Point.
On the boys’ side, Elkins stayed at No. 5 in the 6A rankings after the Knights beat Bush 80-46 on Friday. The win moves Elkins to 7-0 on the season and 2-0 in District 20-6A play.
Duncanville remains No. 1 in 6A, with Atascocita, Shadow Creek and Waxahachie rounding out the top four.
In 5A, Hightower stayed at No. 3 at 5-2 on the season and 4-0 in District 24-5A play. The Hurricanes will next face Foster at Falcon Gym on Tuesday.
Lancaster is still No. 1 in 5A, followed by Beaumont United at No. 2. Mansfield Timberview, Fort Worth Wyatt and Frisco Wakeland are also in the top five.
Stafford is still at No. 4 in the 4A poll at 3-3. The Spartans trail Faith Family, Houston Yates and Argyle in the rankings.
Stafford will be back in action next Thursday, when the Spartans will be at Cleveland.
