The current pandemic has prevented a full ramp up to the 2020-21 swim season but that hasn’t stopped a pair of Fort Bend County swimmers from making a splash on the recruiting trail.
The First Colony Swim Team had two college announcements early this week with George Ranch High School senior Keely Rollinson committing to the University of Houston and Clements senior Meredith Brown verbally committing to swim at Texas A&M University.
Rollinson reached the finals in four events at the College Station Sectionals and secured her best times at Juniors West.
She also placed ninth in the 100-meter freestyle at Des Moines Futures last summer.
“I am so blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my swim and study at the University of Houston,” Rollinson said. “I would like to thank my coaches, teammates, and family for helping me get to this point. Go Coogs!”
Brown competed at the Class 6A state championships this past season where she placed third in the 100 backstroke (55.34 seconds) and sixth in the 50 freestyle (23.49).
Brown has posted times of 23.12 in the 50-yard free and 54.59 in the 100-yard backstroke.
“I’m thrilled to announce my verbal commitment to swim at Texas A&M University,” Brown said. “I couldn’t be more thankful for my coaches, family, and friends for helping make this possible.
“I’m so excited to be a part of the impressive program that Coach Bultman has built. Gig ‘em!”
