After beating Houston Austin in two games last week, the Foster baseball team will face Barbers Hill in a 5A area round series beginning on Friday.
After winning Game 1 over Austin 16-0 on Thursday, Game 2 started on Thursday night. But the weather moved the game to Saturday.
The Falcons scored six runs in the third inning and four in the fourth to get the five-inning victory.
Chance Albright went 2-for-2 at the plate, with three RBIs and scoring two runs. Bryson Harrell and Christian Martinez also led Foster with two RBIs each.
Jackson Schwank earned the victory on the mound for the Falcons, going three innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out six and walking zero. Brandon Naivar threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Foster faces Barbers Hill, which beat Galena Park in three games in their bi-district series.
All three games of the area round series will take place at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory in southwest Houston. The first two games of the series will be played on Friday, with Game 1 at 4:30 p.m., with Game 2 to be played 30 minutes afterward.
Game 3 is scheduled to be on Saturday at noon, if necessary.
The winner of the series will face either Santa Fe or Manvel in the Region III-5A quarterfinals.
Travis, another Richmond school advanced to the area round on Friday.
The Tigers will face Spring Branch Memorial in a three game series on Thursday and Saturday at Strake Jesuit High School.
