East Bernard High School will send both the boys and girls teams to the Region III-3A championships after nearly sweeping the District 24-3A championships this week at Rio Colorado Golf Course in Bay City.

The girls took first place in their competition with a one-day score of 404.

The top finisher for the Brahmarettes was Hailey Henry with a score of 97. She was one of two golfers to stay under the century mark on Wednesday.

Henry was followed by Grace Tovar (100), Kirbi Gulthman (101), Sydney Sandoval (106) and Riki Nardiello (122).

Tidehaven finished second with a score of 463. The Lady Tigers scorers were Shelby Leadford at 99, Kinsley Simons at 114, Taylor Thurmond with 122, Lauren Korff at 128 and Korlyn Hackfield at 133.

Palacios was third in the team standing at 516 followed by Danbury (525) and Van Vleck (561).

The two individual regional qualifiers were Van Vleck’s Olivia Schultz (104) and Hitchcock’s Brianna Landry (115).

On the boys’ side, Boling took first place with a score of 349 with East Bernard in second with a team score of 384.

The Bulldogs’ top scorer, Colby Miller, led the tournament with a round of 75. Teammates Hunter Rachunek posted a score of 87, Korbyn Rolf posted a 94 and Aryan Bhakta finished with 104.

East Bernard’s scores were Ryan Morse with a 93 followed by Doug Grymes and Jace Talas at 96, Alex Lopez with a 99 and Jose Cubias with 118.

Van Vleck finished third in the team standings with a 441 followed by Hitchcock (443) and Palacios (503).

Van Vleck’s Dale Holloway (87) and Caeden Landry (92) were the boys’ individual qualifiers.

The Region III-3A tournament will take place at the Brenham Country Club in Brenham on April 22-23 for the boys and 24-25 for the girls.
