Tied game

Foster’s Kevin Vallone and Jose Hernandez celebrate a goal against Houston Sharpstown during the Region III-5A quarterfinals playoff match Thursday, April 1, 2021 at The Nest in Richmond.

Foster High School made history last week with both the boys’ and girls’ soccer programs making the fourth round of the playoffs for the first time.

Additionally, the Falcons are the only 5A school that has both teams still alive in the playoffs.

Now Foster turns their focus to earning a spot in the Region III-5A finals later this week.

In order to earn those tickets, both teams have a game against an equally talented program on Tuesday night.

The Lady Falcons will battle Magnolia at Cy-Falls High School in Houston at 7 p.m, while the boys’ team will face Kingwood Park at Freedom Field in Iowa Colony at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The following is a closer look at each match:

Magnolia has beaten Montgomery Lake Creek (5-1), Pflugerville Hendrickson (2-1) and Austin Anderson (3-0) to the reach the fourth round.

The win against Anderson came after the Lady Trojans defeated regional favorite Kingwood Park 1-0 in the area round.

Both teams come into the game with an impressive goal differential. Magnolia has allowed six goals to 124 goals scored, while Foster has scored 149 goals and allowed nine goals.

For the winner of Tuesday’s match, Friendswood or A&M Consolidated will be waiting.
