Both area small-school volleyball powers are one step closer to the state tournament after picking up wins in Round 3 earlier this week.
Needville swept Sinton while East Bernard beat Anderson-Shiro in three sets.
Unlike previous years, the wins in Round 3 will not send the local teams to a regional tournament.
The game will be played in a more traditional formal with neutral sites due to COVID-19 protocols in place by the UIL.
The Lady Jays will play at Goliad on Monday against the Lady Warhorses of Devine.
Devine, the District 29-4A champions, have defeated Pearsall (3-0), Robstown (3-1) and Corpus Christi Calallen (3-0) to reach Round 3.
Senior Megan Runyan leads the Warhorses in kills with 236; she accounts for 27.5% of the team’s overall kills.
Junior Kristian Moralez leads the Devine defense with 363 digs, and 569 serve receptions.
In the 3A playoffs, East Bernard gets its reach match with Lexington.
The Lady Eagles knocked out East Bernard in the Region III-3A semifinals last season in Longview.
Lexington won the match in three sets in 2019.
Lexington has been equally stellar this season, going undefeated in District 19-3A.
The Lady Eagles have defeated Franklin (3-0), West (3-1) and Troy (3-1) to reach Round 4.
The East Bernard-Lexington game will take place on Tuesday at Brenham High School.
