Brazos High School football team lines up during the coin flip.

The Brazos Cougars traveled to Kenedy on Friday, hoping to move up in the District 15-2A DI standings. But the Lions had other ideas, Kenedy handed Brazos a 21-6 loss.

The Cougars defense was able to keep the game close with Brazos trailing 6-0 in the third quarter.

Junior quarterback Jared Demny tossed a 44-yard touchdown pass for Brazos’ only scoring play. Demny passed for 151 yards and one touchdown against two interceptions.

The Brazos offense had 196 yards of offense including 45 yards rushing. The Cougar defense forced three turnovers.

Brazos (3-6, 1-2) will finish the regular season with a home game against No. 2 state-ranked Shiner.

The Cougars still have a tie-breaker over the final spot in District 15-2A DI with a victory over Yorktown.
