WALLIS — The Brazos girls’ basketball team wanted to end the season on a high note, but Louise had other plans.
The Cougarettes played tough down the stretch, but Louise guard Madison De Los Santos scored 10 fourth-quarter points to lead the Lady Hornets to a 41-32 win on Tuesday to end the season for both teams.
De Los Santos hit three 3-pointers in the game and scored 22 points.
Freshman forward Haiven Alvarado-Harris tried to carry Brazos with her scoring in the first half, scoring eight points to help the Cougarettes end the half tied at 17.
But Louise got a three-ball by De Los Santos and made four of five free throws, while Brazos struggled to keep pace. The Lady Hornets took a 26-23 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Alvarado-Harris tried to keep the Cougarettes in the game by scoring six points in the fourth quarter, but Louise exploded for 15 points in the period, including a 3-pointer and three more buckets by De Los Santos. The Lady Hornets outscored Brazos 15-9 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.
De Los Santos led Louise with 22 points, with Destine Ortega adding seven. Alvarado-Harris had 15 points for Brazos, with freshman Jemma Zahradnik adding five.
Brazos ends its season with a record of 4-14 and 1-9 in District 29-2A play.
