Fulshear junior quarterback Jackson Edge scored the Chargers’ lone touchdown Friday against Columbia.

The Fulshear Chargers couldn’t keep the momentum after last week’s win against Bay City.

The Columbia Roughnecks scored early and often Friday night against the Chargers at Griggs Field in West Columbia.

Fulshear was down 21-0 before the Chargers were able to get on the board.

Junior quarterback Jackson Edge called his own number with a nine-yard touchdown run.

The Chargers’ signal-caller took the snap around the 15-yard line.

He read the defense and didn’t see any openings before stepping up into the pocket and deciding to run.

Edge made two defenders miss and raced into the end zone.

Fulshear trailed 21-7 before the Roughnecks added another touchdown in the first half.

Columbia poured on 28 more points to pull away in the second half.

Fulshear (1-7, 1-3) will next play Needville on Saturday at Guy K. Traylor Stadium at 3 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for 2 p.m., then moved back to allow students more time to take their ACT tests.
