The 2020 season was a rebuilding year for the Brazos High School football team.
But the Cougars still had plenty of bright spots that were represented on the District 14-3A Division II all-district team.
Brazos had nearly 20 players selected after the Cougars finished with a 2-7 overall and 1-4 in district play.
The group was led by senior Jared Demny, named the Cougars’ utility player of the year.
The defensive side of the ball was the headliner with six selections.
Junior outside linebacker Bryan Maldonado and sophomore defensive back Bryson Bennett were unanimously named to the first-team defense.
Senior defensive end D.J. Lewis, senior outside linebacker Jared Demny, freshman defensive back Trey Gaston and junior inside linebacker Noah Gregory were named to the second-team defense.
Senior defensive end Hayden Pearson, sophomore defensive tackle Jonoah Fonseca, freshman defensive tackle Kasey Zientek, sophomore punter Vinny Aguilar, and senior outside linebacker James Butler earned honorable mention to the all-district team.
Brazos had four selections on the offensive side.
Freshman wide receiver Trey Gaston was unanimously named to the first-team offense.
Bennett and senior tight end Butler were also named second-team offense.
Senior offensive lineman Dillon Arteaga, sophomore offensive lineman Jonoah Fonseca and junior wide receiver Bryan Maldonado were honorable mentions to the all-district team.
