It wasn’t pretty for East Bernard but the Brahmas collected a 27-14 District 14-3A DII win over Ganado Friday on Homecoming night.

The Brahmas had three turnovers and seven penalties but East Bernard built an early lead and held off the upstart Indians.

Sophomore quarterback Dallas Novicke put East Bernard up early with a 15-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Shane Hlavinka and ran for a one-yard touchdown.

Ganado would strike first in the second half with a six-yard touchdown connection between Kyle Gurrero and Riley Hurt.

But another East Bernard drive resulted in a touchdown run by Novicke, this time from two yards.

Novicke completed another touchdown pass with 10:39 remaining in the game, finding senior Tanner Baggett for a 17-yard strike.

Novicke was 5-for-7 for 107 yards and one interception.

Devin Chapman had 52 yards on 14 carries and Baggett had 50 yards on eight carries.

East Bernard (8-0, 4-0) will play at Bloomington this coming Friday.
