According to reports, the Houston Astros have placed reliever Ryan Pressly on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 27.

Pressly had been dealing with soreness in his knee last week after a ball hit him.

The right-hander had been strong for the Astros this season, with a 2.03 ERA through 44.1 innings with 55 strikeouts and three saves. He also has a WHIP of 0.857.

To replace Pressly, Houston called up right-handed reliever Bryan Abreu from Class AA Corpus Christi. Abreu is 5-2 with a 5.17 ERA in 15 games with the Hooks this season. He had 67 strikeouts with 32 walks and a .233 opponent hitting average.

Abreu started the season at Class A Fayetteville, where he pitched 14.2 innings in three games with a 3.68 ERA.
