A 67-year-old Houston man was killed Monday night when he was struck by a vehicle whose driver was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, authorities reported.

Jeffrey Yurcak, 34, of Houston may face additional charges after examination of his blood specimen and the investigation into the collision are completed, Fort Bend County sheriff’s deputy Maj. Chad Norvell reported.

The collision occurred around 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of FM 1092 and Dove Country subdivision near Stafford.

Deputies found Juan Serrano, 67, of Houston deceased at the scene, Norvell reported.

Yurcak was arrested for DWI, Norvell said.

“A blood specimen was taken at the hospital after obtaining a warrant for a blood sample,” Norvell told The Herald. “Other charges are possible pending the results of the blood test and outcome of the crash investigation.”

Witnesses stated Serrano was crossing against the pedestrian light and Yurcak had a green light, Norvell explained.
