A recent Page 1 article (Oct. 11 Herald) regarding Sri Preston Kulkarni raising campaign funds included a false claim that U.S. Rep. Pete Olson was retiring because Kulkarni outraised him.

I’ve known Pete since he first ran for Congress, and family is the only reason he chose not to run again.

His mother-in-law suffered a serious stroke late last year and his stepmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Pete told me it was time to help his wife and family. There is no better reason to step down than family. The Herald should have included the real reason and not just reported what a political opponent falsely claimed.
