Taylor Ray Elementary food drive

Taylor Ray Elementary School students, faculty and staff held a successful food drive this month. The campus collected 1,500 cans of food for the hungry. Their goal was 1,000 cans. From left are school counselor Shelby Hathorn, and fifth-graders Bella Quimby, Brandon Garcia and Aliza Rodriguez, all 10. Hathorn said the school collected 2,000 cans last year but because the coronavirus pandemic halved the number of students attending school at campus, she was pleased to collect as many cans as she did this year. “The kids did a really great job. We only had half the students but still surpassed our goal,” Harhorn said. Principal Ben Perez said the campus will host a toy collection drive in the near future.
