Yvonne Eixmann

Yvonne Eixmann passed away October 5, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by her husband of 26 years, Brad, and her children, Chris and Jenny.

Yvonne was born in Sugar Land, Texas on October 31, 1948 to parents Laverne and Emil. She had an affinity for the Texas Hill Country from a young age, which included memorable summers, and her wedding to Brad Smith, at Slumber Falls Church Camp in New Braunfels. Always a high achiever in whatever she did, Yvonne excelled in school, all the way through to her Master’s from The University of Houston, and her PhD from Texas A&M University. She finally moved to the Hill Country, which was her dream, when the family relocated to Wimberley in 1995. Before she retired, she worked at Texas State University in internal audit and as a professor.

Yvonne loved to travel, particularly to the Caribbean. Brad and Yvonne shared many memorable trips over the years, including a recent one to Greece in 2019. However, her favorite places were on the water and in the hills.

Yvonne’s smile would sometimes devolve into gales of laughter. The sound of these gales are something that her family will never forget. Those closest to her will remember the tremendous hurdles she faced throughout life, and the bravery with which she faced them.

Yvonne was an exceptional woman and mother. She may never have fully realized it, but she was a role model to many who saw her succeed, and the joy that filled her. Her joy was only multiplied in her marriage to Brad, the love of her life, and in seeing her children grow up and build their lives. Her absence is deeply felt, but we know her hope was always our happiness.

In her memory, may you be quick to laughter and find an ease in your smile.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Slumber Falls Church Camp. The link is on her memorial website. For those wanting to share memories, please visit her memorial website at: http://yvonne-eixmann.life
