Paul Leon Seitz

Paul Leon Seitz, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021 in Richmond Texas. He was born February 3, 1929 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Frederick George Seitz and Etha Margaret Walsh Seitz.

Paul was most recently a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg, Texas. He attended grammar school at St. Paul’s in Mission, Texas and high school at St. Joseph’s Academy in Laredo, Texas in 1946. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, preparing as pre-med in 1950. He did post-graduate work at University of Texas at Austin from 1951-1952. He attended the School of Medical Technology at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio, Texas from 1952-1953 and was registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Staff Sargent in 1955. He was an instructor in Chemical, Biological and Radiological Warfare and Defense.

Following his time in the service, he worked for multiple chemical companies along the Gulf Coast from 1955 until his retirement in 1991. He held various positions including: Research Chemist, Plant Manager, Research Developer, and Oil Field Chemist. He was a Consultant and Salesman and acquired two patents. He worked internationally from the jungles of Peru, across the United States, and into Canada, developing revolutionary oilfield chemicals that are still in use to this day.

Paul met his lifelong-sweetheart, Nancy E. Leeper in 1957 and they were married in Mission, Texas on August 8, 1958. They had 5 children while living in Mission, Texas and then had 1 more after they moved to Corpus Christi, Texas in 1966.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy Elizabeth Leeper Seitz, 6 children, Dr. Paul Leon Seitz Jr. and wife Kelleen (Kelli) Peterson, Frederick George Seitz, Etha Margaret Seitz O’Connor and husband Patrick Joseph, John Horace Seitz, Nancy Sara Seitz Lesnau and husband Robert John, Marie Therese Seitz Davis and husband Jay Randall, 23 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, along with a host of other loving family members and friends.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick George Seitz and Etha Margaret Walsh Seitz, his four brothers, Frederick Raphael Seitz, Daniel Godfrey Seitz, Robert Edward Seitz, Joseph Bernard Seitz, his sister, Mary Genevieve Cernyar, daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Louise Bigelow Seitz, and granddaughter, Margaret Clare Lesnau.

Funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Richmond, Texas with Rev. Patrick K. Seitz officiating. Burial will follow in West Gethsemane Gardens in Rosenberg, Texas. The family will receive friends from 4-8 P.M. Monday, March 15, 2021 in the Chapel at Davis Greenlawn Funeral Home, Rosenberg, Texas, with a Rosary at 7:00 P.M.
