Jack Duran

Nativida “Jack” Duran, age 91, passed away peacefully February 10, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19. He was born December 28, 1929, in Rosenberg, Texas, to Casimira and Gregorio Duran. He was married to his childhood sweetheart and lifelong love, Hilaria Cruz, in December of 1952.

Jack worked as a serviceman for the Houston Natural Gas Company, presently CenterPoint. He was a master craftsman and built a number of homes for family, and friends. His hands were rarely still.

Jack was a dedicated father first and foremost. He treasured his children and grandchildren and cherished every moment with them. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, and took on multiple jobs to pay for his children’s college education.

He served his country in the Army branch of the military where he met many lifetime friends.

He was preceded in death by three (3) daughters, Debra Ann Duran, Bobbi Jane Duran, and Cindy Jean (Duran) Bridge. He is survived by his wife, Hilaria Duran; his son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Angela Duran; his granddaughter and her husband, Dr. Alexandra and Jonathan Backof; his granddaughter and her fiancé, Erica Duran and Jeff Safenowitz; his son-in-law, Jim Bridge; and sister, Eva (Duran) Aguilar.

Memorial Service will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church located at 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston,TX on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10:30 am.
