Monika Maria (Weiss) Cantu, 57, of Richmond, Texas passed away peacefully with her family by her side on February 7, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on May 17, 1963 in Ludwigshafen, Germany to the late Alfons and Luise Weiss. As a young woman she met and married an Army GI and came to America where she lived for the next 35 years of her life. Throughout the years she frequently traveled back to Germany along with her family to ensure they got to know her family there whom she missed and loved dearly as well as imparting in her children that side of their culture and heritage. She worked at a local Curves for six years pursuing her passion for physical fitness and teaching others the same. Here she made many enduring friendships which lasted well beyond her time there. She enjoyed tending her flower beds, decorating her home, exercising in her pool, watching British murder mysteries, shopping at estate sales, and most of all, spending as much time as possible with her kids. This loving wife, devoted mother, sister, and friend will truly be missed.
Moni is survived by her husband, Eddie Cantu; children, James “Billy” Cantu, Claudia Cantu and Christopher Cantu; siblings, Thomas Weiss and Stephanie Bohrmann; along with extended family and friends both locally and in Germany.
