Michael Henry Gorka

Michael Henry Gorka, 69, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021, in Richmond, Texas. Michael, born August 19, 1951, was the second child and oldest son of Henry and Elizabeth Gorka. Michael was employed almost 25 years at WCJC on the Richmond campus. He retired only five months ago and was recognized for his dedication to his job. Michael was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Michael enjoyed reading both the Houston Chronicle and USA Today daily. He focused on the sports sections and could quote several teams’ records and players’ statistics in both football and baseball. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Chicago Cubs. At the college level he cheered for Alabama football and Duke basketball.

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his godmother Aunt Mabel Macik of Richmond and Aunt Hattie Lamza of Houston; his siblings Teena Kellam of Fulshear, Clarissa Kelly and husband Bruce of Severance, Colorado, Lea Cassidy and husband Mike of Richmond, and Pete Gorka and wife Terri of Fulshear. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, and eleven great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2021 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.

The funeral home is limited to 50 people or less and everyone must wear a facial covering.

The services will be Live-Streamed through the obituary page on the funeral home website.
