Lillian Alice Belanger Kucera was born July 14, 1933 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She went to the Lord on June 6, 2019, just shy of turning 86 years old.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, George V. Kucera; her mother Yvonne Lessard Belanger; her father Raymond J. Belanger; her sister Germaine Martin; and her brother Raymond Belanger, Jr.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Sheila Bezdek and Cesar Tena; sister Pauline Waldron; grandchildren Kyle, Desiree, Cesar Jr and self-adopted grandchildren Daisy, Jasmine, & Lilly along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lillian was a devout Catholic and was known for always saying prayers and rosaries for the growing list of family and friends. A life-long lover of music, she played piano – either by sheet music or by ear. As a young woman, Lillian was part of a couple of singing trios, The Bel Airs, which included her cousin Claire and The Hampton Sisters, which included her sister Pauline. The Hampton Sisters sang their way across the New England states and Quebec, Canada. They produced a few records and won the popular Arthur Godfrey talent show.

Lillian worked in the Lowell mills as a seamstress until visiting Texas in 1958, only to fall in love with George. After moving to “The Hub of the Universe” (as George referred to Rosenberg) Lillian managed an H&R Block tax office then later opened her own bookkeeping and tax service. Her hobbies for many years were sewing clothing, canning (figs, peaches, pears, pomegranates), hairpin knitting, and of course playing the piano.

Lillian will be remembered for her strong faith, sharp mind, and kind soul.

Memorials may be given in memory of Lillian to American Cancer Society or to a favorite charity.
