Julius W. Pyka, Jr.

Julius W. Pyka, Jr., 79, of East Bernard, Texas passed away on September 6, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 16, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Julius W. Pyka, Sr. and Claudia Mae (Hotz) Pyka. He attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard. Julius was an avid reader and enjoyed barbequing. Julius loved to sing and was a former Choir Director at Holy Cross, St. Benedicts and St. Marks’s Catholic Churches. This loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend will truly be missed.

In addition to his parents, Julius is preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Wayne Pyka.

Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Lea Pyka; children, Susan Marie Gore and husband, Robert, Kenneth Alan Pyka and wife, Betty, Catherine Ann Thumann and husband, Chris, and Patrick Michael Pyka and wife, Margy; mother of his children, Patricia R. Pyka; siblings, Jo Ann Ishee, Janice Marie Ware and husband, James, and Jerry Alan Pyka and wife, Patricia; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and a host of friends.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18,2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard.

Honorary Pallbearers will include Jerry Pyka, Kenneth Pyka, Chris Thumann, Jimmy Hotz, Alex Bienek, Jr., Patrick Pyka and Cash Ferrell and John Percell.

For those wishing, memorials may be made to Silverado Hospice or to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
