John Luis Reyna

Memorial Service for John Luis Reyna, 64, of Rosenberg, Texas is scheduled for Saturday October 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Caballero-Ryder Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

John Luis Reyna was born August 25, 1955 in Richmond, Texas to Isaias Reyna, Sr. and Teresa T. Munguia. John joined his mother, two brothers, and two nieces on October 7, 2019.

John lived all his life in Rosenberg and Richmond. He attended school in the Lamar Consolidated ISD, where he played football throughout junior high and high school. In high school, John (#54) was dubbed “Crazy Horse” for his speed and fancy footwork. He ran fast and swerved in and out (like a Crazy Horse) because he was a little guy and said he didn’t want to get crushed by the big guys. He is still known as Crazy Horse by many of his classmates.

John married Beth Pegues in 1976 and had two children, John Luis Jr. and Carrie. He was a loving father who spent countless hours guiding and teaching his children and raising them into amazing adults.

John worked for Schlumberger for many years as a machinist and later worked at North Houston Pole Line. He was the most dependable and punctual person you would ever meet.

John was a car enthusiast who was seen often cruising around town in his Corvette or on his Harley. You could always count on him to appear when you needed a hand, often an hour or two before you expected him to be there. If you needed to find John around lunchtime, just check out the Whataburger drive-through line. He was most likely grabbing lunch there. John loved football and enthusiastically (loudly) coached his team through the TV. He taught his son how to work on cars and his daughter to cook. He tried to teach his son to cook and his daughter to work on cars too, but they were a bit defiant. That’s apparently an inherited trait.

John took “debating” seriously. When debating any random issue, if he needed a fact to further his position, he wouldn’t hesitate to poll the audience or phone a friend to strengthen his position. He also enjoyed coin collecting, sunflower seeds, popcorn, cats, and feeding the backyard birds.

John was preceded in death by his mother Teresa Reyna; his brothers Isaias Reyna, Jr. and Adam Joseph Reyna; and his nieces Rebecca Gonzales and Trisha Reyna.

John is survived by his father Isaias Reyna, Sr.; his son John Luis Reyna, Jr. (Janet Coleman); his daughter Carrie Reyna; his ex-wife and best friend, Bethany Pegues; his brothers Ricky Reyna, Larry Reyna, Robert Reyna (Sandra); his sisters Rachel Gonzales (Joe), Carmen Rodriguez (Jose), and Teresa Ann Reyna; 18 nieces and nephews as well as many other loving family members and friends.
