Funeral services for Joel Martinez, 49, of Needville will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Caballero-Ryder Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Caballero-Ryder Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

He was born on June 15, 1970 in Richmond, TX. to George and Emma Martinez and he passed away on October 26, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Joel loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, cooking and spending time with his loving wife and children. Joel was an awesome husband and father and was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Emma Martinez; grandparents, Catarino and Emilia Palacios; mother and father-in-law, Lupe and Yolanda Luna.

Joel is survived by his loving wife, Olga Martinez; children, Ashton Martinez, Bethany Martinez, Calista Martinez; siblings, Rose Blackmon and husband Larry, JoAnn Martinez, Danny Martinez; brother-in-law, Lupe Luna and wife Sundown; sister-in-law, Rita Girdy and husband Pete; aunt, Ida Rios and husband Greg. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The past three years have been a very difficult journey until the Lord called Joel home. On behalf of the Martinez family we would like to thank all of our family and friends for their overwhelming support during the most difficult time of our lives. The texts, phone calls and prayers meant so much us. We would also like to thank Dr. Mefford and Staff, Cindy Burris; special nurses, Willie and Priscilla from Methodist Hospital/Oak Bend Medical Center; A-Med Hospice and Staff, Diana Villanueva and “Friends of Friends”. We know that Joel will live in our hearts forever and will be greatly missed, but he will always be remembered for his heart of gold.
