James Wayne Stroud, 69, of Needville, Texas passed away on April 21, 2021 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He was born on March 3, 1952 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Amel and Fern Stroud. Wayne retired as an Electrical Engineer with Halliburton after 35 years. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he volunteered with the Village of Pleak Fire Department, taught girl scouts camping and woodworking skills, and was a cofounder of the Saddle Drive Fourth of July Car & Tractor Parade. Wayne was the go to guy to fix anything and everything. He enjoyed restoring old tractors and cars. Wayne gravitated towards kids and was always ready to have fun, play games and make others have a good time. This loving husband, father, Paw Paw, brother, uncle and friend will truly be missed.
In addition to his parents, Wayne is preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Marie Stroud.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Marie “Mitzi” Stroud; daughter, Jennifer Ponder and her husband Michael; granddaughters, Jillian Grace & Claire Olivia Ponder; siblings, Larry Ray Stroud and his wife Nettie, Dr. Robert Stroud and his wife Karen, Kathy Crabtree and her husband Jim, Kevin Stroud and his wife Gloria, and Karen Thieme and her husband Larry; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
The family would like to thank all of the staff that have helped in Wayne’s Journey over the last several years, especially Dr. Guiying Hu, Dr. Paolo Strati and Dr. Naval Daver.
The family will hold a Celebration of Life Service at a later time.
