Duane Haines

Duane Haines passed away surrounded by family in Richmond, Texas on May 25, 2019 at the age of 75. Duane was born on November 19, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Harold Haines Sr. and Mildred Viola Shepard. He is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law Ralph and Helen Trost; brother Harold Haines; brothers-in-law Mike Godat and Bill Lykins; nephew Doug Lykins; and niece Paula Haines. Duane is survived by his wife Sharyn Trost Haines; children Brian Haines and wife Kristine; Susan Donovan; Brad Haines; grandchildren Harrison Haines, Avery Haines and Lance Donovan; and his sisters Erlene Strenfel and Diane Godat. Duane graduated from Taylorville High School, then attended University of Illinois and received a Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering. He also served in the United States Army. In his retirement, Duane was very active with numerous charities and helped create several fundraisers and drives in his community. A time of remembrance will be held on Wednesday June 12, 2019 at Faith United Methodist Church located at 4600 FM 359 Rd in Richmond, Texas with visitation at 10:00am, memorial service at 11:00am, and a reception to follow. He will be interred at a later date at Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Rosenberg-Richmond Helping Hands or to Faith United Methodist Church Richmond.
