Denis Lee Boethel

Deceased’s Obituary Denis Lee Boethel passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home in Needville, Texas on January 2nd, 2021 at the age of 64 after a courageous year and a half battle with cancer.

Denis was born on July 10th, 1956 in Hallettsville, Texas to Juanita and Daniel Henry Boethel. He is preceded in death by his father, Daniel Henry Boethel. Denis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynn Grell-Boethel, beloved children Cathryn and husband Burton Fowler of San Antonio and son Daniel Boethel of Needville; his mother, Juanita Boethel of Port Lavaca; sister, Susan and husband Dave Norman of Los Gatos, California; sister, Sharon and husband Michael Rau of Port Lavaca; sister Lynette and husband Pat O’Connor of Katy; and brother Delvin Boethel of Rosenberg; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Denis graduated from Lamar High School in Rosenberg, Texas in 1974. He was a Master Carpenter and worked for several companies in Houston doing construction work, finish carpentry and cabinetry work until he opened his own business and was an independent contractor in 1998. He was appreciated for his talent, honesty and customer service. Denis was a creative and artistic person and made numerous original pieces out of wood. His greatest pride was the home he designed and built himself for his family using many reclaimed materials and his incredible creativity. Denis was a surfer and could be found at Surfside, Galveston, Port Isabel or Matagorda when the surf was up. He also traveled to Mexico, El Salvador’s, Puerto Rico, Portugal, Hawaii, California, Florida, Costa Rico and North Carolina to catch waves. Denis would make many friends as he traveled. He loved canoeing, sailing, going on beach and family adventures and also was an avid gardener. Denis was a dedicated father and husband and loved taking his family on trips and adventures.
