Chris James Rainosek

Chris James Rainosek, 61, of Needville, TX passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father on the evening of Wednesday, October 28, 2020. He was born in Wharton, TX on April 30th, 1959 and was the youngest sibling of five. He is predeceased by his parents Herman and Dorothy Rainosek, infant brother Teddy Phillip Rainosek, and brother-in-law James Campbell.

Chris graduated from Needville High School in 1977 and enjoyed participating in football and baseball. He proudly served 3 years in the United States Air Force which included a tour of duty at Torrejón Air Base in Spain. Shortly thereafter, he attended San Jacinto College in Pasadena and received his associate degree in Instrumentation & Electrical Technology. In his elected field, he worked for HL&P and Equistar, formerly known as Lyondell Petrochemical, but eventually retired from his last position due to chronic health conditions.

In his earlier days, Chris loved to hunt and fish. He, his wife Linda, his son John, and parents Herman and Dorothy frequently made venison and pork sausage after his hunting expeditions. Chris also enjoyed canning pickles and homemade salsa with his family. He was also an excellent cook and was part of a bar-b-que cook-off team winning many awards in that endeavor. The dishes he prepared for family gatherings were scrumptious. Chris was a life-time football fan, especially of the University of Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys. More recently he, Linda, and the kids became huge fans of the Houston Astros.

Chris often said he was a better person for having been blessed with his wife and children. Providing for his family was of great importance to him. His desire was to live long enough to see all his children get married and walk his daughters down the aisle, but it evidently was more important to God to relieve him of his physical pain. We are all grateful to have been a part of his life and look forward to seeing him again in the presence of the Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Linda, his son John Selden Smith, and his daughters Dana Laurine and Amber Leigh Rainosek. His is also survived by his brother Daniel Rainosek, sisters Stephanie (George) House and Sharon Campbell; and sisters- in-law: Patricia (Clifford) Burger, Jeanette (Greg) Mensik, and Diana (Bert) Kucera. All his family including numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews mourn the loss of Chris and his vibrant personality.
