Charles Maurice "Sonny" Harris

Charles Maurice “Sonny” Harris passed away September 2, 2019 peacefully after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born September 29, 1937 in Waelder, TX to Joel Maurice and Josephine Hearn Harris. He was raised in Chesterville, TX outside of Eagle Lake and graduated from Eagle Lake High School. He married Mary Elizabeth Fishar on June 23, 1957 and moved to Richmond, Tx where they raised their three daughters. Over the years he worked in law enforcement and then ran a successful electrical business — Sonny Harris Electric — until retiring.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary, daughter Cindy Grillo & husband John, daughter Cathy Krauss & husband Robert and daughter Cheryl Bertrand & husband Jay. Grandchildren Steven Grillo & wife Chelsea, Travis Krauss & wife Amber, Clayton Howard & wife Jessica, Mary Howard, Brett Bertrand, Brittany Bertrand and bonus grandson Derek Hook & wife Meagan. Great grandchildren Kayden, Ethan, Charles “Charlie” and bonus great-grandson Brandon. His sister Ann Hanzelka & husband Willie, and sister-in-law Catherine Harris.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother “Butch” Harris, his infant brother Joe Glen Harris, and his beloved granddaughter Sara Krauss.

Visitation will be held at from 12:00 p.m. until service time a 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2019 in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg. Burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
