Bernice Rose Blahuta Sliva

Bernice Rose Blahuta Sliva went to be with Jesus on Sept. 15, 2019 at 5:44 p.m. at S.P.J.S.T. Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation in Needville, TX.

Born May 8, 1931, in Rosenberg, she was the daughter of Rudolph Blahuta and Rose Sabrsula Blahuta.

She is survived by her children Sheri Kelley of Katy, Debby Coffman (Mike), of Highland Village, Florian James Sliva, Jr. (Liz) of Wallis, and Nita Sulak (Al) of Orchard.

She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and their spouses: Amber Moore (Jason), Adam Coffman (Ashley), Mason Kelley, Ryan Coffman (Kristen), Florian James, III (Venessa), Stacy Hudgins (Clay), Spencer Kelley, Felicia Oliver (Patrick), and Shelby Sulak.

She is also survived by her 15 great grandchildren: Mila and Marin Moore, Kylar, Kenzi, and Karsyn Coffman, Claire, Karlee, and Cole Coffman, Logan and Peyton Sliva, Colton and Emily Hudgins, and Mya, Tyce and Lynx Oliver.

She graduated from Orchard High School in 1949. She married the love of her life on July 26, 1949, and they were blessed with four children. During her busy schedule of raising a family, she worked at Orchard ISD, Wallis-Orchard ISD, and Brazos ISD for 28 years during which time she wore many hats. The most memorable of her jobs was being the secretary at Brazos High School. She traveled the world visiting many states and countries, enjoyed monthly get-togethers with her lifelong best friends in a group they called the Golden Girls, flew to Hollywood at 84 years old to be featured in a video, enjoyed many slumber parties and adventures with her granddaughter, and was the self proclaimed “welcome committee” at SPJST. She was always willing to try something new and different with a great sense of humor, a smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye. Though her body became old, she was forever young at heart.

A special thanks and lots of love to all of the caregivers that helped her in her home and while she was at the nursing home in Needville.

As she celebrated her life here on earth with her loving family and friends, she now celebrates with the angels as she enters through the beautiful gates of Heaven.

Visitation begins at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18, with a Rosary to be recited at 7p.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church.

Funeral services for Bernice Rose Blahuta Sliva, of Orchard, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Wallis, with Fr. Thuy Nguyen officiating.
