Amalia Garcia Vasquez

Amalia Garcia Vasquez, 78 of Richmond, TX passed away on June 6, 2020. She was born on August 15, 1941 in San Perlita, TX to Simon Salazar Garcia and Rosa Ontiveros Garcia. Throughout the years, she became an avid reader and talented poet. She was a beloved and dedicated member of Hosanna Fellowship church in Rosenberg, TX. She dedicated her life to nourishing others as a certified dietitian and enjoyed cooking big holiday meals but her greatest love of all was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and there are no words to express how much she will be missed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Larry Robert Vasquez; siblings Angie Villareal, Maria Aurora Elias, Simon Garcia Jr. and Obed Garcia.

She is survived by her husband Candelario “Larry” Vasquez; children David Arredondo and wife Janie, Diane Vasquez Molina and husband Gregory, and Chris Vasquez and wife Teresa; grandchildren David Arredondo Jr., Melissa Ortega and husband Oscar, Mark Arredondo, Laura Arredondo, Kristina Sustaita and husband Nick, Michael Salas, Alyssa Segura, Lindsey Silhavy, Peter Vasquez, Larry Vasquez, and Lauren Vasquez; siblings Maria Concepcion Cervantes, Alexandro Garcia, Jose Lis Garcia, Edwardo Garcia, Rebecca Vallejo, Rachel Garcia, Maria Elda Garcia, and Elizabeth Flores; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg, TX on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Rosary beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The funeral service will also be held in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. followed by the burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, TX.
