Allen William Lane

October 29, 1946-June 6, 2019

Allen William Lane was born on October 29th, 1946 at Fort Bend Hospital in Rosenberg, Texas.

He grew up in the area, the eldest son of William C. (Jack) and Bessie C. Lane.

Allen graduated from the University of Houston with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism in 1969, before embarking on a career in the paint industry, establishing a company that services the Houston apartment industry.

Allen had a lifelong interest in literature, film, music, and art, as well as food and entertaining dating well before the emergence of foodie culture.

He enjoyed good meals and drink with the friends he cherished, sharing his zest for life with them.

Allen lived in Richmond, Rosenberg, and Houston, but also had established a life in Frankfort Michigan, where he’d built a cabin on Upper Herring Lake.

Allen was preceded in death by his son: James Lane; sister: Wanda Mae Lane; brother: Larry Lane; both his parents and several beloved pets.

He is survived by his son: Chris Lane; granddaughter: Madalyn Lane; grandsons: Everett and Keegan Lane; sister: Sheila Kathy Lindemann; nieces: Christina Lerma and Katie Lindemann; nephew: Adam Nieto; grandnieces: Carina Robles, Celina Lerma, and Kylie Nieto; grandnephew: Christopher Lerma; and his chubby cat Andy.

A celebration of Allen’s life starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29th at Palm Grove at Old South Plantation. It is located at 5227 Skinner Lane, Richmond Tx. 77406. Attendees are asked to donate to Houston SPCA in lieu of flowers.
